EUROGI Secretary General

Bino Marchesini

Bino Marchesini trained as a lawyer at the University of Leiden. He began his career in the private sector (public relations) and after a few years, he joined the Dutch Kadaster, where he has remained for more than twenty years. He gave an important contribution to the initial establishment of the Dutch national GI association (RAVI) where he wrote several reports to the government. He was Secretary to the Kadaster’s Executive Board, and as a director responsible for advising the Board on political developments, communication and legal affairs. From 2002 until end 2005 he was Secretary General of EUROGI. He represented EUROGI within the EC and at international meetings, was at the origins of developing the EGIN, European Geographic Information Network with all major European GI-organisations, and played a major role in broadening EUROGI's membership scheme. From 2006 until 2009 he was the Legal and administrative officer of EUROGI. He now is the Secretary General in a transitory situation.
