eContentplus

The 2007 drafts documents for eContentplus are now published. The drafts of the 2007 eContentplus work programme and call for proposals have been published on the EC website. The call for proposals is likely to be published in June, with a provisional deadline for receipt of proposals on 4 October 2007. The current draft documents will be replaced by the final call documentation as soon as the EC internal procedures for adoption have been concluded.

The 4-year programme (2005–08) will have a budget of € 149 million to tackle organisational barriers and promote take up of leading-edge technical solutions to improve acessibility and usability of digital material in a multilingual environment.

The Programme addresses specific market areas where development has been slow: geographic content (as a key constituent of public sector content), educational content, cultural, scientific and scholarly content. The Programme also supports EU-wide co-ordination of collections in libraries, museums and archives and the preservation of digital collections so as to ensure availability of cultural, scholarly and scientific assets for future use.

The programme aims at facilitating access to digital content, its use and exploitation, enhancing quality of content with well-defined metadata, and reinforcing cooperation between digital content stakeholders. It will tackle multilingual and multicultural barriers.

EUROGI participated in two proposals that were submitted to the 2005 Call.

EURADIN - Eupopean Addresses Infrastructure

EURADIN - EURopean Addresses INfrastructure [ECP-2007-GEO-317002]

The EURADIN project is a Best Practice Network (BPN) co funded by the EC eContentplus Programme (ECP-2007-GEO-317002) after a successful proposal submitted under the 2007 call.

It aims to create a network for promoting the harmonization of European Addresses, focusing on how to access existing related data and to make it interoperable, as well as to define a strategy for building up access services to national or regional addresses infrastructures.

The project main result will be the proposal for the European addresses Infrastructure and the
implementation, testing, and validation of a pilot solution. The results shall be used as a reference for all European Member States to fulfil the INSPIRE recommendations with respect to addresses.

EURADIN is a 24 month project, led by the Government of Navarra (Spain), initiated in June 2008 and gathering 30 partners from across Europe and different profiles. The kick off meeting took place on June 16-17 in Pamplona, Navarra – Spain.

After a long time commitment to the Addresses issue, EUROGI strongly supported the EURADIN since its very beginning, being one of the partners and the leader of Work package 9 on Networking & Dissemination.
