March 2006: The 2006 GISCO meeting took place once again in Luxembourg on March 16-17 2006. Both EUROGI's President and Secretary General attended. View the president's speech here.

February 2005: The 2005 meeting took place March 3-4.

October 2004: The annual GISCO Working party meeting originally scheduled for October 25th and 26th, will be postponed to March 3 and 4, 2005.

October 2003: The 2003 GISCO meeting was held on October 23-24 and EUROGI was, once again, strongly represented. The EUROGI Association was presented by its President, Jean Poulit. Chris Corbin (UK member) presented EUROGI's vision of a European GI Strategy (EGIS) and objectives, including establishing an EGIS Network (formerly ABGI). The main progress in GINIE project was also highlighted. The entire meeting was chaired by EUROSTAT's Roger Cubitt (Head of Unit Regional Accounts). He underlined the need for cooperation in the form of a Network and encouraged the audience strongly to READ the GINIE documents, that he considered very important. All documents from the meeting can be found at here.

October 2002: The GISCO Working Party called "Geographical Information Systems for Statistics" held its annual meeting on October 23-24 2002 in Luxembourg.
Day 1 - meeting with the National Statistical Institutes (NSIs)
Day 2 - meeting with the National Mapping Agencies (NMAs)
The presentations, short minutes and GISCO Progress Report can be downloaded from here.

Throughout 2001, the GISCO team was mainly involved in the following three activities:
- GISCO contributed actively to the INSPIRE initiative (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) together with the Directorate General for Environment
- a prototype of the future production environment was developed on the basis of a new GISCO architecture
- more than 250 maps were produced and the reference database was continuously updated.
The GISCO team was restructured at the beginning of 2002 after the transfer of a management part of the NUTS nomenclature to the Regional Statistics sector together with the official in charge. This had of consequence a reorganisation of the tasks as the team lost one resource.
