Best Practice Awards 2009
Twelve outstanding sub-national SDIs were highly commended by the eSDI-Net+ project as excellent Best Practices at the European SDI Best Practice Awards 2009.
During the project runtime the eSDI-Net+ team produced a "Methodology for describing sub-national SDIs" and derived from that an "Evaluation Framework", defined criteria, indicators, weighted indexes in order to assess sub-national SDIs, and most important experimented this process against 135 SDIs from 26 countries in Europe. In twelve national or regional workshops in Europe, in questionnaires and interviews common issues were addressed as basis for the evaluation: user involvement, usability and socio-economic impact of the SDI, data and service quality and quantity, as well as subsidiarity and sustainability. As a result of this process, 12 SDI Best Practices were elected by an international jury and highly commended at the international conference in Turin, Italy in November 2009:
