Since its inception in 1993, EUROGI has strived to take geographic information out of its elite scientific corner, and bring it into the mainstream of society.
Achievements to date include:
- GINIE, Geographic Information Network in Europe (an European Commission funded project).
- Other European Commission funded projects: ETeMII, ESMI, GISEDI, LaCLEF, Panel GI, GeoWEB, eSDI-Netplus, Euradin, Plan4All.
- Joint EUROGI JRC Workshops.
- EU Industry Days, where a delegation of leading representatives from Europe's geographic information (GI) industry to share their stories of success and the bottlenecks they face with regard to European policy.
- Member Meetings, where EUROGI members exhange and receive information from invited speakers such as the European Commission and GI related industry.
- Country Reports, explains and evaluates the extent of progress of SDI's throughout Europe.
- National Geographic Information Association Studies (2001, 2003, 2005), typical examples of National GI Associations in Europe.
- Legal and Economic issues, an overview of what is happening in different European countries with respect to data policy and geographic information policy.
