Italian Senator Candido De Angelis meets AM-FM GIS Italia Association

On June 10, 2009 in Palazzo Madama, the main and historical location of Italian Senate, Senator Candido De Angelis - Member of permanent commission on finance and treasury and Vice- president of Inquiry Commission on the waste cycle -, met with the Executive Board of AM-FM GIS Italia chaired by the President of EUROGI, prof. Mauro Salvemini.

In the two hours meeting Senator De Angelis has been informed about current developments of spatial data infrastructures and geographic data policies according with the developments of EU Directive INSPIRE.

“Nowadays geographic information are not only data to be managed and used only by specific professional communities but is the accumulation of many information which make possible the governance of the economic and social development” Senator De Angelis said.

As result of the meeting it has been agreed, as proposed by Senator De Angelis, that is now time to start to work for an adequate legislative act to let GI become an economic and social driver for providing services to citizens. AMFM GIS Italia accepts the challenge and sets up the task force as requested.
